Patricky imediately impressed with a knock out of Rob McCullough in the quarter finals and a TKO over Toby Imada in the semi’s. Patricky would go on to face Michael Chandler, losing in a hard fought decision that saw Patricky take an illegal low blow in every round.  Patricky would return at Bellator 59 with a TKO over Kurt Pellegrino but sadly lose in a war against Llyod Woodard where he got his arm broken in a Kimura submission. Patricky Freire will next be fighting former champion Eddie Alvarez. With 7 wins via knock out Patricky Pitbull is always exciting to watch in Bellators lightweight division.

Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira (20-2-0) hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil is a veteran of Predador FC,  Jungle Fight, Ring of Combat and UFC with 6 wins via knockout and 9 by submission. Fighting out of the Bronx Gold Team in Sao Paulo and coached by Jorge Macaco in Houston Texas,  Charles Oliveira is a highly talented fighter with great Muay Thai and amazing Jiu Jitsu. In 2010 he was signed by the UFC and making an impressive debut against Darren Elkins winning via arm bar in 41 seconds. Charles followed that up with a rear naked choke over Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero. In 2011 after losing two fights to larger experienced Lightweights it became apparent Charles was better suited to fighting at 145 lbs. At the beginning of 2012 he made his featherweight debut with an amazing calf slicer submission over Eric Wisely. Charles would then follow that win over another Ultimate Fighter winner in Jonathan Brookins with an anaconda choke. Charles Oliveira is highly skilled and highly talented at only 22 years old, I believe he is the future of the division and a future champion.

Akiyo Nishiura

Japanese featherweight Akiyo Wicky Nishiura (11-7-1) is a veteran of Cage Force, Shooto, K-1 & DREAM. Fighting out of STGY and AMC Pankration he debuted back in 2004 and has gained 11 victories; five by K.O and six by decision. He would also go on to fight 2 kickboxing bouts for K-1 and Shoot Boxing. The way Akiyo Wicky fights can be only be described as monkey style, carrying his hands low he baits his opponents to attack while he ducks and counters with heavy hooks and upper cuts that have knocked out five of his opponents. His 7 losses all come via way of decision to experienced grapplers such as Abel Cullum, Caol Uno and Mitsuhiro Ishida. Since the collapse of DREAM, Akiyo Wicky has been training his wrestling in the U.S amongst the best at AMC Pankration & Team Alpha Male. A very exciting stand up fighter to watch I hope he can make a come back for ONE FC or Bellator and show his true potential.

Leo Santos

Brazil series ~ Volume forty three. Leo Santos

Lightweight Leo Santos (10-3-0) is a veteran of BAMMA, Shooto and Sengoku. Hailing from the Nova Uniao team he is a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and 4 time world champion. He followed his brother Wagnney Fabiano into MMA with 6 wins by submission and 1 via knock out. Leo made his MMA debut for Shooto in 2002 against the formidable Takanormi Gomi losing a hard fought decision. It wouldn’t be until 2006 that Leo Santos would return to MMA racking up 10 wins with submissions and a head kick knockout. With Japanese MMA in a slump, and Sengoku/ DREAM out of business, Santos has since fought for BAMMA in 2011 and Shooto Brazil in which he won easily in round one. Leo Santos has an amazing ground game and I’d like to see him fight on the bigger stage for Bellator or ONE FC. I believe Santos would be a great addition to their lightweight division.
