Brazil Series ~ Thirty six. Douglas ‘The Phenom’ Lima
Brazilian Welterweight Douglas Lima (21-5-0) has collected titles in the AFC, Redline Grand Prix and MFC with 18 of his victories coming via way of K.O or Submission. Originally from Goiania, Goias, Brazil; Lima moved to Atlanta, Georgia, USA where he began training with American Top Team. He began his career in 2006 and went 14-4 winning a few titles along the way, which led him to be discovered by the Maximum Fighting Championship in which he found great success by defeating the likes of Ryan Ford and Terry Martin to become the MFC champion. In 2011 he signed with Bellator to compete in their season 5 welterweight tournament, defeating Steve Carl by decision and knocking out Chris Lozano and Ben Saunders. In 2012 however Lima lost a decision to champion Ben Askren. With crazy muay thai and a wicked jiu jitsu guard this young fighter dubbed ‘The Phenom’ is one of the top future prospects within the division.
